More than 900 runners fully enjoyed the majesty of Bachledova Valley and experienced the very best that Belianske Tatras have to offer
The Behaj lesmi running series has completed its third stop of the year - the race took place in Belianske Tatras, in Bachledova Valley. One of the series’ most popular locations truly had it all - the perfect mountain views, sunshine, crazy uphill climbs and even better descents, and even a run through the Treetop Walk! The best running experiences, the unforgettable atmosphere and beautiful Bachledova Valley - it was a perfect day.
This stop also began with children’s running races organised by Dr. Max pharmacies. At the start below the Tatras stood 218 young forest runners, who competed in six categories. The battles for first place were truly dramatic, and some competitors crawled to the finish, arrived on all fours or even with a finger in their nose!
The running day continued with the JOJ ŠPORT RUN charity race, which 229 runners took part in this year.As part of this race, the proceeds went to Dr. V. Alexander Hospital in Kežmarok, specifically to the children’s and neonatal departments. The amount collected for charity was exactly 2 344 EUR, of which 500 EUR was contributed by race partner ZATOPEK CONSULTING. Thank you!
Two main routes started in the afternoon. The Lesnícka 12 and 20-kilometre routes. The weather throughout the day was ideal for running, postcard-perfect and very warm.
The fastest runner in Lesnícka 12 was Erik Revaj with a time of 00:54:28. The first woman was Katarína Došek with a net time of 01:10:27. At the start of this route stood 291 brave forest runners. The fastest runner on the 20 kilometre route was Tomáš Gemza with a time of 01:30:51. The fastest woman was Nikola Doležalová with a time of 01:58:57 and 165 competitors stood at the start.
The routes were truly challenging: runners climbed 422 metres on Lesnícka 12 and 556 metres on the 20-kilometre route.
In addition, runners on both routes could test their speed and win a valuable tyre voucher from race partner Continental. The CONTI SPEED SECTION speed bonus measured approximately 150 metres, with the fastest man and fastest woman on this section winning.
In the meantime, runners and their fans could enjoy good food or coffee right at the Bachledka Ski&Sun resort, refresh themselves and enjoy the programme in the tent village. They could test running shoes or buy a whole new outfit at the CRAFT brand stand. Throughout the day, the Dr. Max Forest Kindergarten was available for the forest packs. Parents could leave their little ones there while they were on the routes.
After this race, too, the organisers, together with founding partner Lesy Slovenskej republiky, will plant one tree for every runner. Last season, thanks to this activity, exactly 7 122 new trees were added to Slovak forests!
The next stop for the forest pack is the wild Veľká Fatra. On 13 July, runners will take the cable car to the base and enjoy completely new routes in this location. Registration is easy and online at behajlesmi.sk
