Hiking in the Bachledka area

Hiking in the Bachledka area

The mountain area around the year-round family mountain resort BACHLEDKA is a perfect hiking hub. Thanks to its strategic location, it naturally connects the quiet beauty of the Spišská Magura ridge, the distinctive Zamagurie region, and the majestic Belianske Tatras. Families with young children, weekend hikers and demanding high-mountain trekkers will all find something here to enjoy.

Easy Hiking and Family Trips

For families with children and recreational hikers, the resort is an ideal starting point with excellent infrastructure:

  • To the Treetop Walk: From Bachledova dolina, Jezersko or Malá Franková, pleasant forest trails of around an hour lead straight up to the ridge of the Spišská Magura and the Treetop Walk. To save energy, the climb can also be covered comfortably by the 10-seater Cable Car.
  • Hike to Jezersko Lake: A very popular and visually stunning walk from the ridge of the Spišská Magura (from the upper cable car station) to a natural lake hidden deep in the forests above the village of Jezersko. This year the trail underwent extensive revitalisation, making it even safer and more comfortable to walk. A new educational trail is also being built, which will playfully and educationally connect the BACHLEDKA resort directly with the lake itself – ideal for curious children.

Panoramic Ridge Walks and Moderate Routes

Hikers looking for full-day trips with minimal elevation gain will particularly appreciate the network of trails on the Spišská Magura:

  • Spišská Magura Ridge: Peaceful forest and meadow paths offering unique views of the Belianske Tatras, the Pieniny and the picturesque Zamagurie.
  • Magurské sedlo: A well-known ridge route (running all the way from Ždiar through Magurské sedlo, 22 km long), an excellent choice for lovers of longer climbs and training hikes.
  • Discovering Goral Culture: Trails descend from the ridge straight down to the traditional villages of Jezersko and Malá Franková. More experienced hikers can continue on to the distinctive village of Osturňa, a protected heritage site of folk architecture.

High-Mountain Challenges: National Nature Reserve

Lovers of demanding, genuine high-mountain hiking will find plenty to enjoy right next to the resort, directly in the Belianske Tatras:

  • Monkova dolina and Široké sedlo: An absolute gem of the region. The richly natural, 5 km long Monkova dolina runs through the heart of a National Nature Reserve. During the summer season, a one-way educational trail is open along the route: Ždiar – Monkova dolina – Široké sedlo – Kopské sedlo.
  • Connection to the High Tatras: From Kopské sedlo, hikers can continue on to the Zelené pleso valley (to the popular mountain hut) or to the Kežmarská Biela voda valley. This is an exceptional and physically demanding mountain hike, with the irreplaceable atmosphere of wild Tatra nature.
