Ski School
Gorgy Ski School at the year-round family mountain resort BACHLEDKA offers professional and enjoyable tuition in skiing and snowboarding for all age groups – from the youngest pre-schoolers to adults and seniors. A team of friendly, experienced instructors ensures that learning is playful fun for complete beginners, as well as effective training for advanced riders.
Location and Facilities of the Children's Area
The main teaching area is located in a safe setting right on the ridge of Spišská Magura (the Hrebeň slope, to the right of the cable car's upper station).
- Area facilities: Tuition takes place in an enclosed space equipped with three safe conveyor belt lifts (30, 30 and 90 metres long), various obstacles and fairy-tale characters.
- Exclusivity and safety: For safety reasons, entry to the ski school area is permitted only when accompanied by a school instructor.
- Two contact points: For maximum visitor convenience, the school operates two facilities. The first (main) one is located in the Klientske centrum building right on the ridge, close to the teaching area. The second contact point can be found down directly on the pedestrian zone in Bachledova dolina.
Lesson Format and Language Availability
- Lesson length: Every ski lesson lasts 50 minutes.
- Types of tuition: Students can choose highly effective individual lessons, fun group lessons (ski kindergarten), or services for full school ski courses.
- Language provision: Instructors teach in 7 languages: Slovak, Polish, English, German, Spanish, Russian and Ukrainian.
Ski Passes and Bonuses for Students (Important!)
Clear, favourable rules apply for getting students and their parents up to the ridge:
- FREE cable car: If tuition takes place in the school's upper area, the student and their companion (max. 1 adult) are entitled to a free return ride on the Cable Car. Tickets will be issued to you at the ticket office based on the booking system.
- When you don't need a ski pass: If the student is a beginner and only uses the conveyor belts within the school's enclosed area during the lesson, they don't need to buy a regular ski pass.
- When a ski pass is required: If the student also uses other resort transport facilities during the lesson (the large lifts and cable cars on the slopes), purchasing a ski pass is mandatory.
Logistics and Timing
Getting up to the ridge and preparing takes time, so the school strictly requires you to allow enough time in advance:
- With your own equipment: Arrive at the resort at least 30 minutes in advance, to allow time to collect your ticket and take the cable car up to the ridge.
- Visiting the rental shop: If you're hiring your equipment at the resort, arrive 60 minutes in advance.
- Start of the lesson: The student must be dressed and ready in full equipment in the school area at least 5 minutes before the lesson starts. Note: Late arrival counts towards lesson time and does not extend it.
Bookings and Cancellation Terms
To avoid waiting for a free instructor (especially during weekends and holidays), booking in advance is strongly recommended.
