8 tips for enjoying a creative autumn with children in Bachledka and the surrounding area

Autumn isn't just about jumping into puddles in wellies, drinking hot tea or cocoa, reading fairy tales wrapped in a blanket or in a den between chairs, and warming up with a hot tea in hand. Autumn can also reward us with wonderfully warm days. You can enjoy rainy weather too. These autumn days are worth making the most of and treating both your children and yourself to some time in the fresh air.

Don't know where to go with your children or how to spend your free time together? All it takes is a little creativity and the whole family can have fun. We offer you 8 tips for a creative autumn, where to go with children and how to spend your free time together. Set off to enjoy an autumn trip to BACHLEDKA.

1. Flying a kite on the ridge in Bachledka

Take your children on a trip to the year-round family mountain resort BACHLEDKA. Autumn has rewarded us with beautiful sunny days, and we should make the most of them. A walk to the ridge with the sun on your face will top up your vitamin D, which will come in handy during dreary days. Be sure to pack a kite for your trip, not only for your children but for yourself too. A refreshing breeze awaits you on the ridge, so unpack your kites and return to your childhood days.

2. Stock up on chestnuts for rainy days and use them to make all kinds of creatures

Take a basket with you on your autumn trip. You can come back with a basket full of mushrooms, rosehips or chestnuts. Pack a mushroom guidebook too and explore nature together. Then prepare scrambled eggs with fresh mushrooms together with your children. And what about the rosehips? It is better to pick them yourselves as they have thorns, while the children can run around and chase each other. You can cook or bake rosehip tea together with older children, who can help stir this delicious and healthy drink, perfect for dreary days. Chestnuts are fun even for the youngest children. Make it a competition to see who can collect the most, then create all kinds of creatures and monsters together at home.

3. Treat your children to a magical night in a mountain chalet and watch the clear night sky together

Beautiful sunny days are currently ahead of us, which is a perfect invitation to take a trip to the Tatras. The ideal place for outdoor activities in the fresh air is the Belianske Tatras, which you can also set out to explore from the villages around BACHLEDKA and which offer hikes for the whole family. Why not enrich your trip with a night in a mountain chalet too? A unique experience for the whole family is guaranteed. Set off for the only mountain chalet in the Belianske Tatras – Chata Plesnivec. You can reach the chalet from the village of Tatranská Kotlina via an easy hike. The route leads through the Valley of Seven Springs, with an elevation gain of only 600 m, and the route length along the green and blue trail markings is only 1 hr and 20 min. The whole family can manage the hike. However, we definitely recommend enriching your trip with a night in the mountain chalet. At this altitude, with different views of the valley, where you can also see illuminated Kežmarok, even the garlic soup will taste even more delicious. We recommend turning your gaze upwards, to the night sky scattered with stars. When you are far from illuminated places, they are incredibly bright and beautiful here. Believe us, even the children will have an unforgettable experience. Pack them some teddy bears to sleep with in the mountain chalet, a pair of binoculars and suitable clothing. After waking up, you can continue from the chalet on further hikes; we recommend, for example, a walk to Veľké Biele pleso.

4. Go for a walk even in the rain and bake mud pies

You will definitely delight the children. Take umbrellas and colourful, polka-dot or Superman raincoats and head out together to jump in puddles, or bake mud pies together. In rainy weather and in nature, you can easily find clay, water, pebbles and flowers for decoration. Dress the children in a rainproof overall that can easily be rinsed clean in the bath, roll up your sleeves and "get baking".

5. Discover the shapes and forms of clouds

On your trip, discover the unusual shapes and forms of clouds too. Every shape and form carries its own weather forecast. Teach older children the names of the different shapes, and let them and the younger ones take photos of various shapes, dragons, dolphins and anything else they can see in the sky. At home, when you are already in bed after a full day out, make up stories together with the youngest children about the animals they saw in the sky. With older children, use your free time to create a cloud atlas from developed or printed photos, including their exact names.

6. Put a camera in the children's hands

They already know that bugs have six legs and flying insects eight, and they know the difference between a deciduous and a coniferous tree, but they still don't know their names. Let them take photos throughout the day during your trip and look up their exact names together at home. If you have the opportunity, or have inherited a film camera from your grandfather, give it to them. Develop their creativity in this way too. Most photo shops can develop your photos. Films are available for 12-36 exposures. After every trip, you can have the film developed right away, match the photos with the names of animals, plants or trees, and create an atlas of the surrounding nature together during dreary days.

7. Take a trip together to the nearest lookout tower and observe the life of the surrounding nature

A classic hunting lookout tower is certainly an experience, but how about observing the world from as high as a 32-meter high observation tower, located at the end of a walk on the Treetop Walk in BACHLEDKA? An experience guaranteed. Admire the stunning views and discover nature through the interactive telescope waiting for you at the top of the tower. For the more adventurous, there is an adrenaline net that you can walk across. You will see who is braver – you or your children.

8. Discover the colours of the rainbow

Let the children find materials, plants or simply any natural materials in nature and arrange them into a complete palette of six rainbow colours.

We wish you sunny as well as rainy autumn days. But above all, days full of fun, creativity and time spent in the fresh mountain air.
