Earth Day
Our planet also has its special day. Earth Day reminds us of how precious and irreplaceable the nature around us is. It is a day when we become more aware of the importance of protecting the environment, acting responsibly and respecting the world we live in.
Our planet gives us so much every day – clean air, water, forests, mountains, meadows and space for relaxation, discovery and life. That is why we should not forget that caring for nature is a shared responsibility for us all. Every step, even the smallest one, can make a difference – from considerate behaviour in nature to the everyday decisions we make to help protect the environment.
Earth Day encourages us to look at nature with greater respect, recognise its value and realise that its beauty and strength deserve our attention and protection. It is an opportunity to slow down, take a deep breath and remind ourselves that a healthy environment is important for us and for future generations.
More than 1000 trees planted and hundreds of participants involved: Earth Day in Bachledka once again brought children closer to nature
Bachledova Valley, 07. May 2026 – In 2026, the family mountain resort Bachledka once again joined the global Earth Day initiative and continues its long-term efforts to protect nature and support sustainable development. In cooperation with Pieniny National Park, the resort prepared a programme for local schools, combining environmental education with practical help for nature.
A total of 444 children and teachers from 6 surrounding schools and children's homes, who together contributed to restoring the landscape by planting more than 1000 young trees of native species, including spruce, fir and beech. The planting took place in selected locations that required forest restoration, for example after wind damage. The programme also included cleaning up nature in the surroundings of the mountain resort and the Spišská Magura. Together, they managed to collect almost 500 kilograms of waste from the surrounding forests and meadows. During the clean-up, volunteers came across not only ordinary rubbish, but also several unusual finds. These included ski poles, ski boots, gloves, payment cards, Polish zloty and even a tyre. These curious discoveries also reminded us that waste does not belong in nature and that caring for the environment where we live, play sports and relax is a shared responsibility for us all.
The day also included expert interpretation directly in the field, provided by PIENAP staff. The children learned more about how forests develop, why it is important to protect nature, how to behave on hiking trails and the importance of biodiversity for the healthy functioning of the landscape.
Earth Day in Bachledka is not merely a symbolic reminder of the importance of our planet, but above all a practical step towards building a responsible relationship with the environment and strengthening ecological awareness among the younger generation. The event shows that children, too, can make a real contribution to protecting nature through their actions and become part of positive change.
The entire day was guided by the values that Bachledka has long been built on – respect for nature, responsibility and active care for the landscape. Such initiatives are part of the resort's strategy “Development with Respect for Nature”, which forms the solid foundation of its operations.
This year's Earth Day in Bachledka once again confirmed that when goodwill, knowledge and a shared effort come together, the result can be not only a more beautiful and healthier landscape, but also a stronger connection between people and nature.
