Ski touring
This mountain sport, which has been growing enormously in popularity in recent years, also has its firm place in the year-round family mountain Resort BACHLEDKA. During the winter season, an official, safely marked ascent route is prepared for ski tourers. It is ideal for fitness training as well as for beginners who are just getting acquainted with this sport.
Ascent route parameters (Yellow marking)
The route is designed to minimise collisions with skiers and runs partly along the edge of the slope and mostly outside it.
- Ascent line: The route starts in Bachledova dolina, right by the Après Ski La Gamba Restaurant. It ends at the summit of Spišská Magura by the Treetop Walk.
- Marking: The ascent line is clearly marked in the terrain with yellow portable pole markers (on the Resort maps, it is shown as a dashed blue line).
- Statistics: The total route length is 2.3 km with a pleasant elevation gain of 264 metres. The average ski tourer takes approximately 30 minutes.
- Descent: The return to the valley follows the groomed Bachledka I slope as standard.
Safety rules and White Code for ski tourers
Movement on the ski slopes is governed by strict operating regulations. Ski tourers are required to respect the following principles:
- Operating hours (9:00 – 16:00): Ski touring is permitted exclusively during these hours. From 16:00 to 9:00, the slopes are strictly closed! Entering them is life-threatening due to slope maintenance work (there is a risk of fatal injury from the cables of snow groomers and snowmaking machines).
- Ascent rules: The ascent is permitted only along the marked route (following the yellow markers), and ski tourers must walk always one behind the other, never side by side.
- Crossing the slope: When crossing a slope, the skier on the slope always has the right of way. Slopes may be crossed only at marked places and with sufficient spacing.
- Prohibitions: It is strictly forbidden to enter closed sections of the slopes, and ascending with a dog on the slope is not permitted.
- Nature protection and responsibility: The routes are located in the territory of TANAP and PIENAP. Everyone moves at their own risk, and visitors must respect the instructions of the Mountain Rescue Service (HZS) and the Resort staff, who have the right to remove a ski tourer from the route in the event of a breach of the rules.
Excellent accessibility for Slovak and Polish tourists
The Resort is attractive for ski tourers also thanks to its quick accessibility and excellent facilities both at the start (La Gamba) and at the finish (PANORAMA Restaurant):
- From the High Tatras: Only approx. 15 – 20 km (approximately 20 minutes by car from Tatranská Lomnica).
- From Poprad: A convenient 30 km journey (approx. 35 minutes by car).
- From Poland: Excellent accessibility from the popular resorts of Białka Tatrzańska (approx. 20 km / 25 minutes) and Zakopane (approx. 40 km / 45 minutes).
