Treetop Walk

Treetop Walk

Treetop Walk is an exclusive, year-round mountain attraction located in the family-friendly BACHLEDKA mountain resort (Spišská Magura). It is situated just 30 km north of Poprad, directly on the unique border between Tatra National Park (TANAP) and Pieniny National Park (PIENAP).

The route takes visitors through a species-rich forest, offers an educational experience for all age groups and opens up unforgettable panoramic views of the peaks of the Belianske Tatras, picturesque Zamagurie and the dominant landmark of the Pieniny Mountains – Trzy Korony.

Technical parameters and unique construction

The attraction was architecturally and technically designed to combine maximum safety, nature discovery and a gentle dose of adrenaline. For fact lovers, the Treetop Walk offers the following impressive parameters:

  • Total route length: 1 234 metres
  • Length of the trail through the forest: 603 metres
  • Length of the route on the observation tower: 631 metres
  • Observation tower height: The dominant feature of the attraction is a 32-meter high tower with a 360-degree view.
  • Height of the trail: The route will safely take you up to a height of 24 metres above the surrounding terrain.
  • Trail width: The comfortable width of 1.8 metres ensures easy passing, even for prams and wheelchairs.
  • Number of supports: The stability of the entire wooden structure is ensured by a massive construction with 120 supports.
  • Largest tree used in the construction: 25 x 0,48 metres
  • Panoramic telescope: At the very top of the tower, there is a telescope that allows you to view the surrounding landscape. Through the telescope's optics, you can see the names of peaks and interesting places within a 360° radius, helping you to get your bearings and discover the surroundings. The telescope costs 2 € and payment is possible only with a coin of the corresponding value.

Educational and adrenaline elements along the route

  • Educational stops and programmes: During the walk, information panels and interactive educational stops will enrich your experience. The Resort also offers organised educational programmes about the local fauna, flora and forest protection.
  • Adrenaline corners and net: The walk is enhanced by balance and obstacle elements placed directly along the route. The biggest attraction is a walkable adrenaline net stretched right in the middle at the top of the 32-metre-high tower.
  • Dry spiral slide: For a fast and fun way down from the observation tower, visitors over 120 cm tall can use the 67-metre-long Dry spiral slide. The slide is also open during the winter season, provided weather conditions are favourable. The slide ride costs 3 € and is not included in the Treetop Walk admission. The ride can be purchased directly at the entrance to the slide at the Treetop Walk observation tower.

Accessibility, comfort and visitor rules

  • Transport to the ridge: A modern 10-seater cable car (the journey takes 7 minutes) takes you from the large-capacity car park in Bachledova Valley directly to the entrance to the Treetop Walk.
  • Barrier-free route: The entire length of the trail, including the ascent to the observation tower, follows a gentle incline (2 - 6%), without a single step.
  • Entry with animals: For safety reasons, dogs and other animals are not permitted on the wooden structure of the trail. However, free and safe enclosures with water are available directly in front of the attraction entrance.

Winter Wonderland BACHLEDKA (Winter special)

The main highlight of the winter season is the evening transformation of the attraction. During selected winter evenings (Wednesday, Friday, Saturday until 20:00), the Treetop Walk transforms into a magical, more than one-kilometre-long light exhibition with thousands of lights and a fairytale atmosphere in the snow-covered forest.

Winter Wonderland BACHLEDKA

During the winter season, the popular Treetop Walk and its surroundings at the year-round family mountain resort BACHLEDKA are transformed into a fairytale setting. Winter Wonderland BACHLEDKA offers visitors an unforgettable adventure under the starry sky, where the evening forest and lookout trail light up with thousands of lights, turning an ordinary walk into a magical experience.

Themed light installations and trail specifications

The experience is not limited to the trail itself. Winter, Christmas and nature-themed elements accompany visitors from the moment they arrive at the resort:

  • Light sculptures and animals: Beautiful light installations, most often in the shape of forest animals and winter motifs, await you already in the Bachledka pedestrian zone (by the cable car boarding station). More magical photo spots can be found after reaching the ridge, right by the upper cable car station, at the Panorama Restaurant and in front of the Treetop Walk entrance itself.
  • Trail specifications: A walk along the illuminated trail covers an impressive distance of 1 234 metres. The wooden structure safely guides you through the forest at a height of up to 24 metres above the ground. The highlight of the trail is the ascent to the majestic, 32-meter high observation tower, offering an incomparable night-time view of the illuminated resort and the dark silhouettes of the Belianske Tatras.

Group and educational programmes at the Treetop Walk

The Treetop Walk at the BACHLEDKA Resort is an ideal place for school trips and organised groups. It offers a unique “outdoor classroom”, where pupils from nursery, primary and secondary schools can experience what they learn first-hand and gain valuable knowledge about the importance of protecting nature.

    Interactive outdoor classroom

    • Environmental education:  Children learn how the forest ecosystem works in an interactive way, discover the local fauna and flora, and learn to recognise the characteristics of a natural forest. They learn how a large, tall tree grows from a small seed, as well as why the forest and its animal community need to be protected.
    • Educational panels:  The route is enriched with numerous information boards featuring engaging texts and illustrations adapted for even the youngest visitors to understand.
    • Expert support:  A trained member of staff is available to help teachers ensure the smooth running of their trip.

Thematic programme: The Carpathian Forests from Roots to Treetops

For groups wishing to combine their walk with an expert commentary, we offer a guided educational programme led by an experienced local guide.

    • Programme duration:  Approximately 75 minutes.
    • Tour content:  A view of the forest from various perspectives, expert commentary on the uniqueness of the surrounding nature, and a demonstration of the destructive power of weather in contrast to the forest’s ability to regenerate.
    • Price per group:  €65 incl. VAT. (We provide guide services for nursery and primary schools free of charge).
    • Dates:  Educational programmes generally take place on Thursday.

    Reservation and payment conditions

    • How to book:  A binding order with invoicing details must be confirmed at least 5 days in advance by email info@bachledka.sk or by phone at +421 911 977 455.
    • Payment conditions:  The guide fee must be paid in advance by bank transfer based on the issued advance invoice. (Please note: The price of the guided programme does not include admission to the Treetop Walk itself or a cable car ticket).
    • Cancellation policy:  The date can be cancelled free of charge up to 48 hours before the start of the tour.
    • Weather conditions:  In the event of unfavourable conditions (thunderstorm, windstorm, heavy rain), guided tours are cancelled for safety reasons. We will inform you about the cancellation by phone in good time.

    Individual offers for other groups

We will be happy to prepare a tailor-made programme for other organised groups, corporate events or team-building activities. You can send your enquiries regarding individual offers to the email address info@bachledka.sk.
