Training Center

In Fresh news, News, Uncategorized on

In 2024, after years of planning and intensive work by the Slovak Ski Association, a new National Youth Training Center – Malá Franková was added to the Otto and Vlado Krajňák Training Center. It serves primarily the members of ski clubs for training and for developing young skiing talents.

The unique project of the SSA and BACHLEDKA is becoming a milestone in the development of skiing and snowboarding in Slovakia, providing our young athletes with first-class training conditions.

Modern conditions for future generations

The center was created with an emphasis on safety, efficiency, and accessibility. The training slope is:

  • Separated from the commercial parts of the resort, ensuring a calm and safe environment for training.
  • Accessible at a discounted skipass price, so it is truly available to every SSA member.

Focus on infrastructure and comfort

The training slope is located at an ideal altitude above 900 m, faces northeast, and is easily accessible from various parts of Slovakia. In addition, it offers a wide range of accommodation options, recovery facilities, and proximity to the Secondary Sports School in Poprad, making it an ideal place for developing sports talents.

According to the Ministry of Tourism and Sport of the Slovak Republic (MCRŠ), the National Youth Training Center in Malá Franková ranks among the most significant investments in sport and tourism in Slovakia.

Naturally, there is also a slope named after brothers Otto and Vlado Krajňák, which was built in the resort earlier and is also available to ski clubs. Its length exceeds 950 m with a vertical drop of 212 m. Otto Krajňák is a Crystal Globe holder for winning the Veterans’ World Cup and a multiple Masters world champion. Vlado Krajňák took part in the Olympic Games twice. At the post-war 1948 Games in St. Moritz he did not compete after a training fall; eight years later in Cortina d’Ampezzo he finished 38th in giant slalom, did not finish the slalom, and was disqualified in downhill. The six-time Czechoslovak champion placed 27th in downhill at the 1954 World Championships in Åre, Sweden. He earned more than three dozen victories and many medals at veterans’ competitions, in which he started even past his eighties. Just three years ago he brought home gold and bronze from the Masters in Slovenia. The fatal fall occurred during preparation for another event.

For whom the training centers are intended

  • They are intended for ski clubs seeking a professional space for training throughout the ski season, regardless of the day and time they wish to train.

How the training centers operate:

  • The training centers for skiers operate daily from 9:00 to 15:30, with the first training starting at 8:45.
  • It is possible to set up a maximum of 4 courses, which means two clubs can train simultaneously within one time block. There are 6 training blocks offered at these times: 9:00–11:00, 11:00–13:00, 13:00–15:00. The training time can be changed only by agreement with the operator at +421 910 977 399. If the slope is free, an individual training time can be arranged upon agreement and availability. Course reservations must be made online at least 24 hours in advance. After the training is finished, it is mandatory to take down the training course, i.e., spread piled snow and minimize the formation of snow heaps.
  1. The maximum recommended number of riders on one course is 40.
  2. Ticket price: 12 EUR / 3 hours / person (3 hours include: 120 minutes of one course reservation and 60 minutes for transfers and course preparation). Tickets are purchased online after reserving a course using the received promo code – purchase link
The skipass is intended only for the coach and the persons who are training (the training skipass is not valid for a parent, doctor, driver, team leader, etc.).

The skipass is purchased by one person (the coach) based on a list of names linked to the coach’s online account.
