Goral Folk Festival

Goral Festival in Bachledka: Richard Müller, The Duchons, Katka Knechtová, Gladiator and Folklore Ensemble Železiar under the Tatra peaks

Right in the picturesque village of Ždiar, the traditions of the Gorals will be revived, who, after years of effort, were finally recognized early this year as a national minority in the Slovak Republic! Celebration of this historical milestone will take the form of an imaginative program full of popular faces and traditional local Goral artists here at BACHLEDKA.

These highlanders will introduce their culture, history and crafts to festival visitors. Besides the authentic local atmosphere, a star-studded program awaits visitors.

Richard Müller, The Duchons, Katka Knechtová, Gladiator, as well as the folklore ensembles Železiar and Zespół TerazMy from Poland, will all perform at the festival of all Gorals at an altitude of nearly 1,200 m above sea level up at Bachledka. Children will also enjoy concerts performed by PACI PAC, Zahrajko and Vodníkovci.

29TH ANNUAL CELEBRATION OF GORAL CULTURE AND MINORITIES

Gorals from all corners will flock to Bachledka to celebrate their holiday together from August 8th to 10th. The 29th Annual Goral Folklore Festival awaits us, traditionally held right by the entrance to the Treetop Walk.

All lovers of exceptional Slovak culture will find what they’re looking for at Bachledka! The organizers have prepared demonstrations of Goral crafts, and local farmers will bring their animals that families can not only pet but also feed. There will also be the opportunity to saddle a Goral gelding or enjoy local specialities.

The event will feature traditional Goral artists who will treat us to a cultural experience through folklore, dance and song. Goral culture will mingle with contemporary culture, and we can all look forward to stellar concerts.
